During the first quarter of 2018, markets took investors for a wild ride that saw a large increase in January, a deep fall in February, and a volatile March that remained relatively range bound. The talk of a trade war with China, and the rhetoric from the Trump White House was the main culprit. But, after we add the 3 months together, U.S. stocks posted just a -0.64% decline in Q1 buoyed by solid economic fundamentals both in the U.S. and abroad. Emerging markets stocks were the standout posting a 1.42% increase during the first three months of 2018.
